Two weeks ago, the hype over the new iPad was very high and people are still buying the iPad 3. However, it appears that Apple is making less of a profit from these new iPads then it did when it launched the iPad 2 and the original iPad. The research firm IHS iSuppli took apart an iPad 3 on Friday and found that the parts are more expensive than those of the iPad 2. Apple has kept a competitive price for their new iPad and for this reason, Apple is making 9% less money from the sales of their new iPads compared to the sales from their iPad 2s.
This can be a good thing for buyers. It means that if you bought the iPad 3 then you got more for your money than someone who bought the iPad 2.
